The struggle is real. We’ve all been there...staring mindlessly into our wardrobes hoping that the perfect outfit would just appear out of thin air. I‘ve found myself doing that a lot recently and had to go back to my own blog for these same tips! Hence why I’m publishing this again, but with more tips!
It’s pretty darn stressful and can end up breaking the bank as I always (no idea how) reach the conclusion that I'm in need of new clothes to make it 'easier' to choose an outfit. But how very wrong I've been; it makes it even more impossible!
"THE INDECISIVE GIRLS GUIDE TO THAT PERFECT OUTFIT AIMS TO PUT THE STRESS OUT OF DECIDING WHAT TO WEAR TO HELP YOU ENJOY THE PROCESS, THE OUTFIT AND THE DAY/EVENT AHEAD OF YOU."
It got to a point where I could not take it anymore. I was wasting so much time just sitting clueless in a mountain of clothes, late to where I had to be, and stuck in the same "go-to" outfit. I came up with a few tips that have made the process a whole lot easier, and I wanted to share it with you all so we can be stress-free together. The indecisive girls guide to that perfect outfit aims to put the stress out of deciding what to wear to help you enjoy the process, the outfit and the day/event ahead of you.
1. PLANNING x
I now always start by planning my outfit the day before or even a few days before. This is honestly one of the best changes I've made as it's so so much easier. Waking up knowing what you’re going to be rocking lets the day seamlessly take place. It has helped me be on time for university even on the days I oversleep a little as I already know what the plan is, no need for any thinking. With this extra time I've been able to make a home-made hot drink which has definitely made my purse feel heavier (although I am missing the amazing Costa and Caffe Nero drinks I got addicted to).
2. THE WEATHER x
Knowing the weather before planning is key, the last thing you want is for your fingers and toes to be falling off whilst slaying a gorgeously beautiful yet unsuitable outfit for UK's Antarctic cold weather. This tip also makes use of your full wardrobe. You know when the awkward days (which annoyingly we have a lot of) are coming up; where it's cold but not so cold. It can be a knee boots kinda day then all of a sudden jump to those "hole-y jumper’s and cardigans" (lol) kinda day. And by hole-y, I mean those totally adorable crochet/ lace designs.
3. CLOTHING DIARY x
This might literally sound insane and a little self-obsessed, but I promise you it works. I found that I wear the outfits I love regularly and then a few weeks later (after a few new outfit obsessions) I don't remember the full outfit. Now I'm not saying you need to bring out a pen and notepad for this (you can if you want and have your ish together) - simply type out the outfit in the notes app or even a quick pic of your outfit and save it in a separate photo album so later on you don't have to scroll up loads. Not only is it your own cute little fashion recap, it's extremely helpful to be able to quickly flip back and see how you put items together in the past.
4. ORGANISATION x
I can't express how an organised wardrobe helps with planning that perfect outfit. Oh my days it completely rids of the chaos. It automatically rests my mind, and relaxes my eyes having everything in sections; a large and sectioned wardrobe is the best investment I've ever made. Seriously you'll hear me say this again and again but a clear place for all your clothes and accessories makes everything so much simpler and emotionally calmer. As well as a calmer feeling, having an organised wardrobe has helped me identify the key staple pieces I want for my outfit and with this in mind the decision/styling process becomes easier and much more smoother.
5. COLOUR PALETTE x
Last but not least, a colour palette. Using colour combinations has always been my cunning little secret which I can't wait to start sharing with you all! Using inspiration from everything around me: pinterest, shop windows, magazines but most importantly the world around us. The nature provides so much inspiration which isn't always noticed! Do keep checking out my outfit blog posts and instagram posts to get colour palette inspiration! I regularly post my outfits which always come to life from a colour palette. I hope to inspire you all to also create gorgeous outfits and then make it to your identity.
Lots of love,
your girl @pinkserenityx
